What the heck is an 808-8A? Is there (or I wish there was) a simple chart showing the different motors, and then the different diaphragms that when mated to them make up the various designations that was easy to read.

    808-8a: = 8 ohm 808A :

    Altec

PS. AB this link was not as easy to find . Bill has passed on, I hope we can save his Altec pages for the User's Board library.
Opinion is only as valid as its verifiable supporting evidence.

    It's a cute list.

But, it isn't quite complete, and the descriptions are a bit short of comprehensive.

"Sounds fabulous" as a descriptive term in a database?

My drivers have no labels or stickers on them. That chart would be more usefull if it listed the depth and diameter of the motors so we could cross-reference them as well as the diaphragm numbers. I like flow charts personally.

Isn't AB a computer wizz on accell?

I put together an Altec driver cross-reference. Perhaps a good start would be to make such threads sticky?

Thanks OG. I've been working on a significant update to these charts with better info.
I will insert those you mentioned as well.

I have them all saved already.. I was thinking the same thing (About Bill Meckle's Pages)..Whenever I come across anything that is Altec related I try to save it to disk. I have 4 external drives I use a lot for saving info, plus the drives on my computers.. 8.7 TB's total..

Funny how one letter makes a huge difference. 808 8("b") can be converted to an 802 8g with a correct diaphragm change. The 808 8("a") can not. Different motor/magnet size.
